my approach

Many people find the prospect of attending therapy daunting. I hope that this information will address any concerns that you may have about coming to see me.

I provide a safe and confidential space where you will be able to discuss issues that concern you. I consider the first 1 to 3 sessions an information gathering period where you and I will explore and understand the issues you are struggling with. After this initial exploration phase, I will summarise what we have discussed and suggest a way that we can work together to address these issues. The success of your therapy process will depend to a large extent on the fit between us. After our first meeting we will discuss how you felt about it and how you would like to proceed.

Psychology is a broad discipline. There are many different treatment approaches. Although I work mainly within a psychodynamic framework, I draw on different approaches, according to what will best address the issues that you bring.
